Senior Research Fellow, Infectious Diseases Modelling and Epidemiology

James Cook University

Michael Meehan is a mathematician working within the Australian Institute of Tropical Health and Medicine (AITHM) at James Cook University (JCU) modelling the spread of infectious diseases. He is currently working on genomic-driven infectious disease modelling methodologies and applying these to the emergence, evolution and transmission of drug-resistant pathogens – with a particular focus on tuberculosis in the tropics. He has also has active projects investigating the ecological models of Wolbachia introduction for dengue control; and modelling viral transmission in regional aquaculture facilities.
